Getting
Started
The path to
your amazing Invisalign® smile begins here.

Step 1: See your certified
Invisalign provider
Dr. Teresa Tran Mercado, your certified
Invisalign provider, will give you an overview
of how Invisalign works, evaluate your
situation, and answer your questions. |
Step 2: Map out a treatment
plan.
You and your doctor develop a treatment plan
specifically for you. Then the doctor takes bite
impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will
use to custom-mold a series of clear, removable
aligners that will gradually move your teeth
into an incredible new smile.

|
Step 3: Your aligners are
created.
The advancements in technology that led to clear
aligners were developed by Invisalign. Your
aligners are created via precision computer
mapping and design, then are shipped to your
doctor.
|
Step 4: Wear your aligners.
You’ll receive your aligner series, switching
to a new aligner every two weeks as your teeth
move. Just wear each set of aligners night and
day for a two week period, removing them only to
eat, brush and floss. Visit your Invisalign
provider on a regular basis for progress checks.
Each case is a little different, but on average,
treatment lasts about a year. Then you can show
the real you with an amazing new smile! |

Veneers
-
Porcelain laminate veneers can permanently straighten and whiten your
smile. They often represent the ideal treatment for patients with
misshapen or crooked teeth, severe discoloration and other esthetic
imperfections.
Veneers are thin slivers of porcelain that
bonds to the surfaces of
your front teeth to enhance its color and shape. They are individually
created and customized for each patient in a dental laboratory. When
multiple veneers are placed adjacently, crowding and misalignment can
be corrected or erased. Because veneers are carefully sculpted and
shaped, many people feel they have gone through instant
orthodontics.
Veneers have a longevity of at least ten to
15 years due to the
strength of the porcelain. They are durable and stain resistant. To
achieve the best depth of color translucency and iridescence, the
structure of the teeth to be veneered must be reduced both facially and
in length up to two millimeters. Veneers should wrap around the chewing
edge and between teeth to create life-like translucency and
contour.
Depending on the position of the teeth,
sometimes they do not need any
reduction. These are known as “prep-less” veneers.
If
patients are interested in bleaching or tooth whitening, this should be
achieved prior to veneering, as restorations will not whiten.
Many
times, a combination of crowns, bridges and veneers are used to create
a youthful, natural-looking smile.

Bonding/Inlays/Onlays -
Bonding is a simple treatment used to fix chipped teeth, lighten their
color, and even make over your smile. Either your front or back teeth
can be bonded. In one visit, you can have a more youthful smile and
replace old metal fillings with an esthetic material that should last
for years.
Direct bonding technique used as veneers on
front teeth is an
economical option for smile enhancement as well. However, they are not
as durable and stain resistant as porcelain veneers. Thus, these resin
veneers warrant replacement approximately every three to five years.
This can be completed in one visit and often, no anesthesia is
required.
Tooth-colored porcelain inlays and onlays
are also bonded restorations
that are often used to replace large metal fillings. Tooth that
requires additional strength or reinforcement are ideal for inlays or
onlays. These are designed and processed in a dental laboratory and
require two visits.
